Primary schools across Caerphilly County Borough have been learning about recycling as part of the council’s annual Big Spring Clean campaign.

A number of schools have been treated to an educational and interactive theatre show.

The show, which is sponsored by the Welsh Government’s Tidy Towns initiative and presented by performers the Gregory Brothers, aims to encourage children to take pride in their surroundings.

Cllr Dave Poole, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, attended the most recent session at Derwendeg Primary School and said: “This show is a fun way of getting important messages across to the future generation, who will in turn take the message home to mum, dad, older brother and sister and the rest of their community.”

• Litter pickers and refuse sacks are available to residents and community groups wishing to get involved in the clean-up. For more information call 01443 873 758. The council can also arrange litter collection after clean-ups.
