Gwent Police warning over key safe doorstep scam

News | | Published: 11:55, Tuesday July 15th, 2014.

Police are warning elderly resident to be on their guard against two doorstep scammers operating in Caerphilly County Borough.

Officers have received reports of two women, one white and one black, pretending to be carers, knocking on doors and asking for elderly residents’ key safe number

In one instance, the pair called on a resident in Fforest Avenue in Cefn Hengoed, but the person at home had already had their call from their legitimate carer.

Anyone with information on the bogus callers should call Gwent Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
