Bogus caller warning for residents in Machen

News | | Published: 12:00, Thursday July 17th, 2014.

Police have warned residents against a bogus caller pretending to be from Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The man called at a woman’s home in Machen stating he was from the council and that she needed to have loose stones fixed on her home. He claimed the council could carry out this work for free.

Police believe this is a bogus caller.

The mas was white in his mid 30s, 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, dark hair and had a lump on his forehead. He is wearing a black t-shirt with ‘Hi Line’ wirtten on it. He is driving a blue saloon type vehicle.

Police have urged residents to contact them if they are approached by the man and to take a note of his car registration.

Gwent Police can be contacted on 101.
