A468 Caerphilly bypass roadworks to finish on November 10

News | | Published: 16:01, Monday November 3rd, 2014.

Major roadworks on the A468 Caerphilly northern bypass between Trecenydd and Pwll-y-Pant roundabouts will end on November 10 – a week ahead of schedule.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has said work to repair the road is progressing well, but that it will have to close the road in both directions for three days starting on Friday November 7.

So far, the carriageway travelling in the direction of Trecenydd to Pwll-y-Pant roundabout has been closed.

A spokeswoman for Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “The council acknowledges that this has caused unwanted changes to road users within the wider area, and would thank everyone for their patience and cooperation during this time.

“The good news is that the works are scheduled for completion one week ahead of schedule, with completion anticipated ready for the road to re-open fully on Monday November 10.

“However, in order for these works to be completed safely and a week ahead , it will be necessary to close this stretch of road in both directions (to east and westbound traffic) for a period of three days beginning next Friday November 7.

“To ease congestion, the council is looking at options to restrict parking on Nantgarw and Pontygwindy Roads during this three day period to help ensure traffic is able to flow more freely.”

A political ploy and nothings else. Three weeks always was a long time for such repairs considering Heathrow Airport can resurface a 2.4 mile runway in under a week. The predicted time was plucked from the big man’s derrière, all along the earlier time was planned to make the council look good.
