Two men have been convicted of murdering Risca man Stephen Lambert, who was found stabbed in the town in August.

Gavin Harris 28, of Holly Road, Risca, and Raymond Ball, 33, of  Twbarlwm Close, Risca, both pleaded guilty to murder at Cardiff Crown Court on December 17.

Mr Lambert, 35, was found with stab wounds by police and ambulance crews on Twmbarlwm Close on August 27.

He was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Ian Roberts, said after the hearing: “The guilty pleas today are a reflection of the overwhelming amount of evidence presented by the prosecution that undoubtedly identified these two men as those who killed Stephen Lambert.

“Our thoughts remain with his family at this time and I would also like to pay tribute to the community for working with us as we made enquiries in the area and the diligent efforts of officers in bringing this case to justice.”

Ball and Harris were arrested for the murder of their neighbour the day after and will be sentenced on January 15.
