Twins Glenys Thomas and Florence Davies – The UK’s oldest twins after celebrating their 103rd birthday together

Sisters Florence Davies and Glenys Thomas have been named the oldest living twins in the UK at 103.

The sisters were born on November 22, 1911, and grew up in Abertridwr. It is believed they were the first identical twins to be born in the Aber Valley and have spent most of their lives living next door to each other in Francis Street.

They even built an interior door joining their two kitchens to make it even easier for them to see each other.

Between them, they have five children, twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

During their time, the twins have seen 19 British Prime Ministers.

At Abermill Glenys and Florence now have rooms a couple of doors away and enjoy spending time together in the communal lounge area.

John Roberts, Abermill Care Home Manager, said: “Florence and Glenys have achieved a truly remarkable feat. It is so lovely to see them celebrate this milestone together and with their family and friends, we’re thrilled to be part of it.

“Also, a big thank you goes to everyone who made Florence and Glenys’ 103rd birthday so special, and to the kitchen staff for providing such a great spread of food – it really was a special day.”

Hello! Looking for more information on the twins. I believe they were my great aunts! Was their maiden name Roberts and did they come from a family with 18 children? Any info would be appreciated!

Looking for info on Abertrydwr twins Florence and Glynis. I believe I am related to them! My father’s name was Donald Kestell and my grandmother’s maiden name was Roberts. Thank you.
