Caerphilly MP Wayne David has been talking up local businesses to a delegation of Taiwanese officials.
Labour’s Mr David invited the trade delegation to meet with him in his constituency as part of their recent visit to Wales.
The delegation is being led by Dr Chih-Kung Liu, Head of the Taipei Representative Office to the UK.
The meeting between Mr David and the Taiwanese delegation came ahead of a Welsh Government organised trade mission to the region in March. This will be looking to further develop business links between Wales and Taiwan.
Mr David said, “I was keen that the delegation from Taiwan came to Caerphilly as part of their visit to South Wales, so I was delighted when they accepted my invitation.
“The economy in Taiwan has grown over the last few decades and this has led to an increasing demand for foreign imports. As Asia has become a very important market for British businesses I am keen that local firms here in the Caerphilly constituency do not miss out. During my meeting I therefore promoted this area to encourage future business links with Taiwan and the wider region.”
