St David’s Day was celebrated across Caerphilly County Borough with special concerts taking place simultaneously in four town centres.

The festivities saw bands and choirs performing the Welsh national anthem amidst a packed repertoire of musical entertainment.

Bargoed saw entertainment from Oakdale Silver Band and Gwerinwyr Gwent Welsh Folk Dancers.

Festivities at Blackwood took place on the Dragon Circle and welcomed entertainment from Markham and District Brass Band and the Melody Makers.

Crowds gathered at the Twyn steps in Caerphilly town centre to watch entertainment from BTM Next Generation and Caerphilly Community Chorus and Caerphilly Youth Choir.

Tredegar Park in Risca welcomed Crosskeys Silver Band and Rhymney Silurian Male Voice Choir.

The Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cllr. David Carter, visited both the Blackwood and Bargoed concerts and commented on how impressed he was by the talent of the local bands and choirs.

The crowds were entertained by impressive stilt walkers which included giant Daffodils and rugby players. Visitors truly entered into the celebratory spirit of things with free Welsh-themed face painting on offer.

Festivities at the Winding House museum in New Tredegar saw visitors treated Welsh flag crafts and a free portion of bara brith.
