Police are searching for clues into the disappearance of Abertridwr man Trevor Elias, almost three years after he went missing.

Mr Elias, known locally for his love of horse racing and unique sense of humour, was seen outside the Leigh Club in Senghenydd between 11.15pm and 12.15am on Thurdsay April 5 to April 6 2012.

Before that had been at The Buffs Club on Abertridwr Square was and reported missing on April 7 2012.

He was 77 at the time of his disappearance.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said they are again searching areas between Senghenydd and Abertridwr to try and discover clues regarding Mr Elias’ disappearance.

Police officers have been seen searching the verges and stream along the cycle path between the two villages that used to be a rail track.

Last year police released a CCTV image of missing Mr Elias taken on April 6, 2012, the last confirmed sighting of him.

He was seen on CCTV at 12.23am on Friday April 6 walking passed the Cenotaph in Senghenydd and heading down Commercial Street in the direction of Abertridwr.
