Coleg Gwent’s hair and beauty students walked away with 15 awards in the regional heats of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) skills competition. Students will now compete in the UK final later this year.

Hair, beauty and theatrical makeup students from Coleg Gwent battled it out with a variety of creative looks at the heats held recently at Coleg y Cymoedd.

The competition included categories such as nail art, bridal makeup and 1940s’ make-up, while hairdressing students competed in gents’ and blow-drying themed categories.

Head of School Helen Lawless, said: “I am thrilled with the results and it was a great experience for the learners. They have clearly worked hard and creatively.”
