Car traders prosecuted after Caerphilly Council trading standards’ investigations

News | | Published: 14:00, Thursday April 2nd, 2015.

Two car traders have been fined after being taken to court by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s trading standards.

Mark Flavin, who traded as Nationwide Trade Sales, Glan y Nant Garage, Pengam, pleaded guilty to three offences after a complaint from a customer.

Flavin misdescribed a vehicle as having a full service history, did not tell a customer fuses had been removed that would have shown an electrical fault and misdescribed a vehicle as being in excellent condition throughout.

He was ordered to pay more than £3,200 in fines, costs and compensation at Newport Magistrates’ Court on March 20.

Charles Parsons, trading as Car O Sell, Newport Road, Pontymister, also pleaded guilty to three offences at Newport Magistrates Court.

These included supplying a dangerous vehicle, failing to supply a business name and address on a receipt and on the premises, and misdescribing a vehicle as being in excellent condition. Parsons was ordered to pay more than £1,300 in costs and fines.
