Postmasters Robert and Liz Lavington have stamped their last letter, retiring after 27 years at Oakdale post office.
The married couple, pictured, were inundated with cards, flowers and gifts from the community, while family and close friends held a surprise retirement party.
Mr Lavington, 75, and Mrs Lavington, 72, originally moved to the area after having run a post office in the Cotswolds.
The couple, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year, said they wanted to thank all of their customers from over the years for their support – especially recently when Mr Lavington was taken unwell.
Mrs Lavington joked: “We are looking forward to a well-earned break.”
The post office, on Syr-Dafydd Avenue, was originally opened in the 1920s but closed its doors for the last time on Tuesday March 24. The post office service has since moved to the Nisa store in Melin Place, Croespenmaen.
