The fire on Rudry Mountain

Fire crews from Caerphilly have attended a large grass fire on Rudry Mountain.

South Wales Fire and Rescue service said they received the call at 4.45pm this afternoon.

Firefighters used beaters to fight the blaze which destroyed 13 hectares of grass and vegetation.

There were also grass fires at Graig Rhymney, Tirphil, and Pontlottyn this evening, while there were also reports that boys were seen in Abertridwr deliberately lighting fires.

Boys have been seen deliberately lighting fires on Eglwys Common Abertridwr. Abercynon crew are attending 18.56
