A nursery is fundraising to help a little boy with a rare genetic disorder.

One-year-old Finlay has been diagnosed with Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome, a disorder which causes overgrowth and affects one in 15,000 births.

Finlay attends Britannia Day Nursery, on Caerphilly Business Park, and nursery staff decided to hold a fundraising assault course day, which was attended by members from the Army.

Ice hockey team the Cardiff Devils have also donated a shirt signed by players to be raffled off. Money raised by the nursery will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital which is carrying out research into Beckwith-Wiedemann.

Finlay’s mum Gemma O’Driscoll said: “The fundraising effort is amazing. I feel overwhelmed by it.”
