Firefighters are still battling a large deliberate grass fire near to homes in Wattsville, near Crosskeys.
Crews were called yesterday, Wednesday April 22, to the mountain blaze, near an industrial area, and worked throughout the night to keep nearby homes safe.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the fire has affected an area around 300 hectares – the equivalent of 420 football pitches.
A total of 12 fire engines and water bowsers, as well as a mobile command unit, were sent to the incident on Wednesday night.
This morning a helicopter was launched to help tackle the fire from the air.
Last night crews were also called to another grass fire in Newbridge.
