Pupils at Hendre Infants School raised over £2,000 for new books by taking part in a sponsored readathon challenge.
The reception, year one and two pupils read almost 1,000 books between them over the Easter weekend.
Laura Hughes, Chair of Hendre Infants School PTA, said: “We were hoping the event would raise around £500 to help our school purchase reading books that they desperately need.
“We have counted all the sponsorships and were overwhelmed to discover that this event raised an amazing £2,064, with our kids reading almost 1,000 books between them.”
The school held an awards ceremony on April 24 to reward the pupils for their effort in reading to purchase books.
