Golfers raise cash at Bryn Meadows charity day

News | | Published: 15:00, Monday May 18th, 2015.

More than 100 golfers raised £4,700 for charity at the annual Phylyp Butler Charity Golf Day.

120 players made up 30 teams at Bryn Meadows Golf Club to raise money for Disability Sport Wales, which helps to provide Sporting opportunities for children with disability.

Organised by Friends of Newbridge Leisure Centre, prizes were awarded for different achievements throughout the day, with Team Gibbons taking the overall title.

Sport and leisure staff, local businesses, ex-international rugby players and friends all took part in the event with keen golfers and complete beginners taking part.

Cllr David Poole, Caerphilly County Borough Council Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, said: “It is fantastic to see such a well supported event continuing to do well for the fifth year.

I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who took part to raise funds for an excellent cause and special congratulations to the winners Team Gibbons.”
