Blackwood residents’ association raises cash for Velindre Hospital’s Patagonia trek

News | | Published: 15:00, Wednesday May 27th, 2015.

A residents’ association has raised £600 for Velindre Hospital with a fancy dress event.

Wayne James, of Blackwood, is taking part in a Patagonia trek in November with the aim of raising £6,000 for the cancer treatment centre.

The £600 raised by Hollybush Residents’ Association will go towards Mr James’ total.

The fundraising trek, organised by Velindre, coincides with the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Welsh settlers to the South American region.

Mr James is taking part in the trek after both of his parents were cared for at Velindre.
