Free events for carers across Caerphilly County Borough as Carers Week celebrated

News | | Published: 10:05, Monday June 8th, 2015.

There will be a series of free events for carers this week as Caerphilly County Borough Council celebrates Carer’s Week.

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

There will be information stands at Tesco in Risca from 10am to 12pm and at Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith from 2pm to 4pm today – raising awareness of the help and support offered to carers.

Those wanting to find out more about being a carer will also find useful information at the events.

A free screening of A Royal Night Out will be shown at Blackwood’s Maxime Cinema at 11am tomorrow, June 9, with the chance to relax afterwards at a coffee afternoon at the White Rose Resource Centre in New Tredegar from 2pm to 4pm.

On Wednesday June 10 a pamper day is available at the New Cottage Dance Centre in Ystrad Mynach, which promises to be an indulgent day of relaxation and enjoyment. The session will run from 10.30am to 2pm.

The week of activities will be rounded off on Thursday June 11 with a shopping trip to Cribbs Causeway in Bristol. There are only limited spaces available for the trip so please ring to confirm your booking. Pick up and drop off points will be discussed when booking your seat.

For more information or to book a place on the free activities contact Hayley Smith, carers’ support worker on 01495 233218 or 07808 779367, or email carers@caerphilly.gov.uk.
