The new Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough has raised over £6,000 for charity in his first month in office.

At the official launch of Cllr Leon Gardiner’s charity appeal, £3,900 was raised for his chosen causes Ty Hafan and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Cllr. Gardiner, who represents Argoed, said: “I am thrilled with the level of support shown at the launch of my charity appeal, and I would like to express my thanks to everyone who attended and helped raised this fantastic sum of money.

“Ty Hafan and Macmillan Cancer Support are two very worthy causes, and this contribution will help support the valuable work these charities carry out.
