The family of a five-year-old boy from Caerphilly who suffers with autism is backing a new appeal by a charity that helped them.

Pen-y-Bryn boy Ollie Warr-Townley and his family are backing the provision of specialist equipment for children with disabilities in the county.

Ollie’s mum, Jennifer, was given a specialist buggy by Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children that helps her perform everyday functions.

It allows her to take her son to the park to take part in outside activities and she is urging local people to help change the lives of other local children.

The Newlife Foundation has helped 26 families in Caerphilly County Borough through equipment grants and loans totalling almost £18,000.

They are trying to raise a further £6,729 to help two more local families and have launched the Newlife Caerphilly Fund to help local disabled children.

Ms Warr-Townley said: “The new buggy has made a massive difference to us every day. Shopping and normal life is made so much easier.

“Standard equipment just won’t work because he’s tall and I’m small. Life would be very difficult without the new equipment.

“Ollie is very comfortable in the buggy which is great because he does not get agitated.”

“There was no funding available for the new buggy, but Newlife were able to help very quickly, just when we needed it.”
