48-hour dispersal order granted in Blackwood

News | | Published: 14:58, Thursday July 16th, 2015.

A dispersal order has been granted for Blackwood Bus Station, Market Place and the surrounding area. The order started at 8am this morning (Thursday 16th July) and will run for 48 hours.

Inspector Carl Williams has authorised the Dispersal Order under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, following reports of antisocial behaviour including drunkenness.

The order applies to: Blackwood Bus Station, Market Place and Shopping Centre, Gravel Lane, the old Somerfield Car Park and Council Car Parks surrounding the Bus Station. It also covers all footpaths and lanes providing access between the bus station, Market Place and Lilian Road.

The order gives police officers and community support officers with the power to move groups of people on from a specified area. If they return, they face being arrested.
