Two friends are cycling the 460 miles between Abertridwr and the French capital of Paris in memory of their late uncle and friend.
Gareth Short, 32, and David Games, 24, left their home village on Sunday July 19 and were due to get to Paris on Friday July 24.
The pair are cycling in memory Brian Molyneux, who sadly passed away from leukaemia in February last year aged just 49.
Brian, who would have turned 50 on July 17, was Gareth’s uncle and was the father of David’s girlfriend.
Gareth explained: “I was drinking with Bri when he was alive and I told him that to raise money for charity in his honour I would cycle to Paris. He laughed and said ‘yeah alright’ so we have to do it now.”
Gareth and David set out to raise a total of £5,000 for Marie Curie and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research with the sponsored ride, but the two have already surpassed that and are now aiming even higher.
The pair have been joined on the ride by Gareth’s brother Gavin, 35, and Lloyd Davies, 26, who was Brian’s nurse in hospital. Gavin and Lloyd are following the cyclists in a support car.
