An exhibition of the work of the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service, which ran a tea shop in the former Caerphilly Miners’ Hospital, will be on display at Caerphilly Library until July 31.

Dorothy Lewis, 82, volunteered in the hospital for 22 years.

She said: “We gave thousands of pounds back to the hospital to buy whatever they wanted.”

Good old WRVS, a welcome and friendly sight at any hospital. The work they do for the ill and older people is priceless.
