A DWP worker visited Caerphilly Job Centre on July 16 as part of a 850 mile cycle ride to raise awareness of bowel cancer.
Christopher Daniel, 52, cycled to every DWP office in Wales over ten days to raise money and awareness after his wife Rita was diagnosed with the disease three years ago.
Mrs Daniel, 52, said: “I wanted to raise awareness of bowel cancer because if it’s caught early enough it’s curable. People just need to know the early symptoms.”
Mr Daniel, of Merthyr Tydfil, used to work in Caerphilly Job Centre and received a warm welcome by staff offering food and donations.
He said: “We’re well on the way to reaching £8,000 for cancer charities. If it wasn’t for all the support I had this would just be some old fat bloke riding around Wales on a bike.”
