A total of 47 members of the Caerphilly and District Twinning Association recently returned from their biennial visit to Lannion and Ploubezre in Brittany.
This was the latest of many visits, in fact the 25th anniversary of the twinning agreement will be celebrated next year when visitors from Brittany will be welcomed to Wales.
Visitors are welcomed to the homes of their hosts in both Wales and Brittany and many friendships have been formed over the years.
The programme for the visit included time in the Lannion street market and official welcomes from the Mayor of Lannion and Ploubezre.
Social events included a galettes evening with traditional Breton music and dancing.
Visits were made to an Eco-Museum and a 6,000 year old cairn at Barnenez, which is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
One less cheerful note was the loss by Caerphilly to the narrow margin of 7-6 of the Cy Collins boules trophy, but there is of course the chance to win it back next year.
Association members will now be busy fundraising to prepare for the visit of their Breton friends to Caerphilly next year.
