Llancaich Fawr Manor honoured with plaque to mark Urdd Eisteddfod

News | | Published: 13:00, Tuesday August 11th, 2015.

Llancaiach Fawr Manor has been presented with a plaque, designed by a Pontllanfraith artist, to mark its work in hosting the Urdd Eisteddfod earlier this year.

The plaque is based on the 2015 Urdd Eisteddfod poster, depicted using a series of ceramic tiles. This design was created by Matthew Jones of ‘Ave a Go Ceramics.

Mr Jones is a part of the Eisteddfod’s Art, Design and Technology Committee and was selected to form part of a small group of local people who initially came together to discuss potential ideas for the piece.

Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “This will serve as a reminder to residents and visitors that this iconic youth festival visited Caerphilly.”

Diane Walker, Manager at Llancaiach Fawr Manor House said: “All the staff at Llancaiach Fawr were honoured and privileged to be so closely involved with such an amazing event as the Urdd and we are delighted to have this permanent reminder on site of that fantastic week in May.”

The plaque will be inscribed to show who made and designed it.
