News | | Published: 14:00, Thursday August 27th, 2015.

Emergency services helped two bariatric patients out of their homes yesterday, August 26, in two separate call outs.

Crews from Bridgend and Rhymney were called at 10am to an address in Maerdy View in Rhymney to help the Welsh Ambulance Service remove a woman patient.

A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said a rapid response car, two emergency ambulances and the trust’s hazardous area response team were in attendance. The patient was taken to the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.

Crews from the ambulance and fire services were then also called to an address in Pentwynmawr near Newbridge at around 7pm.

The ambulance service sent a rapid response car and an emergency ambulance to help the woman patient, who was taken to Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr in Ystrad Mynach.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Aberbargoed and Malpas attended.
