Applications sought for Caerphilly Council’s Standards Committee

Caerphilly County Borough Council is recruiting for a position on its Standards Committee and is looking for a person who will help secure the “highest ethical standards in local government”.

The role involves dealing with ethical issues arising out of the council’s work and hearing complaints from the public.

Members are paid £198 a day and £99 for a half day and will be expected to attend up to ten meetings a year.

Applicants must live in Caerphilly County Borough and apply by October 1. For more information call 01443 863028.

    Easy job! Another pointless position paid for by us. I suppose it lowers the unemployment figures though for Caerphilly.

    I will be surprised if they get much interest from credible candidates for that sort of money. Might suit a retired person with a strong interest in council standards. Perhaps they should have put this position in place several years ago, before the last bosses scandal.

      Ssshhh! Not allowed to mention the pay scandal cosing us more than £3M so far in this paper. Oh blast! I have mentioned it!

    No doubt the council has already pencilled in somebody to fill the position – somebodies mate, son, daughter, wife who could use a bit of extra pocket money.

      Yes, spot on like the hardacre saga at caerphilly cbc and wellington saga at torfaen cbc. Apparently Mr Hardacre has left caerphilly cbc to join the NHS. Typical!
