Hundreds learn computer skills with Digital Fridays as part of Get Caerphilly Online scheme

News | | Published: 11:42, Thursday September 24th, 2015.

More than 1,230 people have received free computer lessons as part of a scheme to help people use the internet.

Digital Fridays is run by the community group Get Caerphilly Online – a joint venture by Caerphilly County Borough Council, BT and the Welsh Government.

Digital Fridays, which began in January 2013, is open to anybody aged over 16 who needs help with an IT related issue.

The project relies on volunteers with more than 1,100 hours given up by people.

Overall through different schemes, Get Caerphilly Online has helped around 4,400 people enhance their digital skills and was recognised earlier this year with an award.

Digital Fridays take place between 10am and 1pm at Bargoed, Blackwood,

Caerphilly, Newbridge, New Tredegar, Risca and Rhymney libraries.

The sessions are free and residents can drop in at any time.
