The Poppy Appeal has broken the £1 million barrier in South East Wales for the first time. Donations to the annual appeal, run by The Royal British Legion, reached the landmark figure recently, surpassing last year’s total of £870,000.
Money raised through the Poppy Appeal goes directly to the Legion’s welfare work, providing through-life care to anyone who currently serves in the British Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.
The Royal British Legion’s Community Fundraiser for South East Wales Lynne Woodyatt, said: “Breaking the £1m mark is a fantastic achievement and it’s all down to the generosity of the public in South East Wales. I’d like to thank each and every person who helped us to reach this monumental milestone by making a donation to the Poppy Appeal over the past year.”
Phil Jones, The Royal British Legion’s Area Manager for Wales said: “There has been tremendous support for our Armed Forces in recent years and this achievement reflects the strength of feeling the public have for the Legion.”
This is an excellent cause to donate money to. I would donate to the Poppy Appeal over donating to things for the economic migrants.
