The Parent Forum Hengoed and Cefn Hengoed scooped the top award at a Celebration of Achievement for adult learners.

Outstanding adult learners from across Caerphilly County Borough were recognised at the special event on September 15.

Awards were given to Susan Davies for Employee in Learning, Michael White for Essential Skills for Life Learner, Kathleen Maye for Family Learning, Hayley Price for Young Adult Learner Michael Schofield for Digital Learner, English the Creative Way for Older Learners and Darren Yudowitz for Further and Higher Education Learner.

The keynote speaker at the event was Christina Harrhy, Caerphilly Council’s Corporate Director of Education and Community Services.

She said: “All the nominees this evening certainly show us that we are never too old to learn a new skill – but it’s not easy by any means – it takes determination, patience and a leap of faith but the personal sense of achievement it gives you is really special. You are all winners here tonight,”
