Musicians from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales visited Trinity Fields School in Ystrad Mynach on Monday, October 5, to offer pupils a music workshop.

The workshop introduced pupils aged between 14 and 19 years to the instruments and musicians of the orchestra and pupils went on to make music with BBC NOW musicians. Wayne David MP and Jeff Cuthbert AM visited the school to meet the children and see part of the BBC NOW workshop.

Teacher Claire Boswell said: “The visit from the BBC Orchestra and Andy Pidcock was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to experience the sound of the orchestra and to interact with others in an inclusive musical environment. It was an enjoyable, engaging, experience for all of our pupils.”

Caerphilly MP Wayne David added: “This was a brilliant morning. The musicians of the BBC NOW brought with them an exciting set of musical experiences. Because of the way the musicians inter-related with the youngsters, their music was used to introduce the pupils to, literally, a whole new world. Everyone at the school hopes it won’t be too long before the musicians come back.”
