It’s that time of year again for us all to look to the sky and say “ooohh” and Caerphilly town, Bargoed and Blackwood all have organised firework displays.
This year’s show at Caerphilly Castle will begin at 7pm on October 31. The free show, organised by Caerphilly Town Council, will be collecting for Caerffili Lions and Trinity Fields School in Ystrad Mynach.
Blackwood Rugby Club will be holding its firework and laser display on November 5 at Glan Yr Afon Park. Doors will open at 6pm for 7pm start. Adults £3. Under 16’s £2 and Concessions £2.
Bargoed’s free display, organised by Bargoed Town Council, will be held at Hanbury Road Car Park on November 5 at 6.15pm for 7pm start. There will also be free children’s rides.
For the more adventurous, there is a walk up Twmbarlwm on November 5 to enjoy the fireworks in the surrounding valleys, setting off from Cwmcarn Forest Drive at 6pm.
The walk is suitable for ages ten and older and costs £6 per adult and £4 for children.
Booking is advisable by calling 01495 272001.
Thats about £30,000 from the public purse up in smoke Yippy!!!!!
I actually like firework displays but I believe they need to be done properly or not at all. We already see London making cut backs and slowly becoming the laughing stock of NYE. I think it is time Caerphilly scraps this firework display as it is unlikely £10m will be found to make it decent.
It`s all about fiscal priorities in an ever depleted Civic Budget,
I also actually like firework displays, and considering their popularity I think large companies and firms would welcome Tax Saving sponsership of local displays. Reducing the burdon on the Civic Purse whilst the Council`s are struggling to juggle priority spending and cutting `reducing` front line services cover.

I also spotted this this morning, and wondered how it could be adapted to this discussion, spot on.
Watched the display from David Williams park last night. Financing aside it was a cracking effort, my daughter thought it was epic.
Quite correct
`Cracking effort` see what you did there?
You talking to me now are you?
