Around a fifth of adults in Caerphilly County Borough are “digitally excluded”, according to the latest national survey of Wales.

It is estimated that 27,500 adults are not online.

Digital Communities Wales, a Welsh Government project run by the Wales Co-operative Centre, is urging tech-savvy residents to volunteer to help others get online.

If you are interested in becoming a digital volunteer you can email digitalvolunteering@wales.coop.

Further information about volunteering with Digital Communities Wales can be found at digitalcommunities.gov.wales/volunteer.

Quite frankly, if there are people who have not taken the initiative to get online by now, despite all of the well-publicised benefits (they have all heard of Facebook and Google regardless of their online status) then they do not deserve to be supported.

We can lead an elephant to water, as society has already done, but we cannot make it drink.

I blame the Labour government at the Welsh Assembly for creating another pointless scheme to waste money. Full marks for creativity in wasting money.
