Tributes have been paid to an “amazing” man from Bargoed who died after a car crash in Merthyr Tydfil on October 11.
Joe Daniels, 18, passed away University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff overnight on November 9.
He was the third fatality of the crash that killed Rhys Jones, 18, and Ryan Gibbons, 20, both from Bargoed, when a car they were travelling in crashed into a telegraph pole.
In a tribute, Mr Daniels’ family described their heartbreak.
They said: “We are completely heartbroken and devastated at the loss of Joe at such a young age.
“He was an amazing personality who loved life, his family and his friends.
“Joe was a much loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. We take comfort knowing that he has been reunited with his ‘brothers’, Rhys and Ryan.”
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail.
Yet more lives needlessly lost on our roads at the hands of a young male driver, families morning the tragic loss of young men with their whole lives in front of them. It’s about time that young drivers had restrictions placed upon them, the driving test is too easy, they should train over a longer period of time and newly qualified drivers should not be allowed to carry more than one passenger until they have been driving for a least two years. Young males wrongly believe that they are supreme invincible drivers and that their youthful fast reactions will get them out of any situation, but a car is a potential killer and needs to be treated with the respect that it deserves, and a car with four adults on board will handle completely differently to when it only has the driver in it.
