A 23-year-old woman was the target of a would-be robber, who tried to steal her handbag as she walked down the street alone.

The victim was walking along Fair View, near to the junction with Edward Street, in Blackwood, at around 6.30am on Monday, November 23, when a man approached her and tried to grab her handbag.

The attacker failed and ran off.

He is described as being white, about 5ft 11in tall and of medium build. He may have had a beard, and was wearing a waist-length black puffa jacket with a dark hood and black trousers.
