Police crackdown on Illegal parking in Blackwood town centre

News | | Published: 13:39, Tuesday February 9th, 2016.

Police officers targeted illegal parking in Blackwood town centre over the weekend, February 6 and 7.

Thirty-two traffic offence reports were issued to motorists after complaints from residents.

Traffic offence reports are issued by police officers instead of fines, letting motorists have the chance to go on an education course.

Offences witnessed by officers included parking in a taxi rank, parking in a disabled bay without a disabled badge, parking in a controlled area of crossing and parking in a no waiting zone.

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said officers would continue to monitor the situation and take any necessary action.
