Gwent Police is cracking down on illegal parking in Blackwood after officers issued over 40 Traffic Offence Reports in a single day.
On Saturday February 27, one summons notice and over 40 TORs for parking on double yellow lines and in permit bays were issued in Blackwood, along with verbal warnings and two referrals of anti-social behaviours.
Ward Manager for Blackwood, PC Andy Brunker said: “Blackwood officers are constantly receiving complaints regarding illegal and inconsiderate parking within Blackwood town, the bus station and neighbouring streets.
“This has a huge impact on local residents, visitors and businesses in the area and as a result, the public have asked us to focus on it a Your Voice Priority.”
Traffic Offence Reports have replaced the old Fixed Penalty Notices for road traffic offences. The new reports are submitted to the Central Ticket Office in Pontypridd.
PC Brunker added: “There appears to be a misconception amongst the public that if they drive off before the ticket is issued they will not be prosecuted – can I stress that this is not the case and they will receive a Traffic Offence Report in the post, plus they could be committing additional offences such as failing to stop for an officer.
“I want to remind motorists to park sensibly in car parks and avoid parking on double yellow lines and loading bays. Future operations are now being planned throughout the forthcoming months.”
This is a mistake I think? Surly the editor has mistaken CAERPHILLY for BLACKWOOD? I am sure the Gwent Police meant to say they are going to enforce parking orders in Caerphilly and NOT Blackwood.
Yep…Needed in centre of Caerphilly…..Park where you want seems to be the thing at moment, including outside Iceland on the pavement where there is an oil slick…Who do i sue if i slip ??
Just been reminded the Gwent Polce and Crime Commissioner lives? IN BLACKWOOD, But this MUST be purely coincidental, surely?.
