A project which collects leftover paint from decorating and building projects and distributes it for community use, has celebrated its second anniversary.

The Community RePaint Scheme is run by The Furniture Revival – a social enterprise owned by charity Groundwork Wales.

The Furniture Revival team collect reusable leftover paint and redistribute s it to individuals, families, community groups and charities in need.

The scheme aims to improve the wellbeing of people and appearance of places in the Caerphilly Borough and beyond.

Since it began, the scheme has reused almost 17,000 litres of paint with more than 1,200 individuals accessing the scheme for low-cost paint, while 42 community groups and charities have benefitted from donations of paint.

Kylie Bell, Business Development and Marketing Manager at The Furniture Revival, said: “Community RePaint Caerphilly is an excellent example of how we are able to provide paint to individuals and community groups in need, enabling people to spruce up their homes on a tight budget and providing paint to brighten up local community spaces for the enjoyment of all, whilst also reducing our impact on the local environment, by promoting the wider circular economy.

“I express my thanks to all our volunteers who have contributed to this fantastic scheme over the past two years.”

The Furniture Revival aims to reduce the amount of items going into landfill via the reuse of used furniture and electrical goods within Caerphilly County Borough.
