Police have issued a fresh appeal for information to trace Newbridge man Kyle Vaughan on the fourth anniversary of his disappearance.

Mr Vaughan, who was 24 when he went missing, was last seen on Sunday December 30, 2012, as he left his home for the last time. The following police inquiry quickly developed into a murder investigation, although no body has ever been found.

Detective Chief Inspector Nikki Brain, who is leading the investigation, said: “Four years on and the investigation to find out what exactly happened to Kyle that night remains ongoing. From day one my team has been committed to supporting Kyle’s family throughout this very difficult time, and we remain focused on solving this case and providing some much needed answers to them.

“I would, once again, urge the local community to think back to that night and if you have any information at all that you think could assist, please get in touch with us, no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be. If you want to speak with us confidentially/ anonymously that can be arranged.”

Mr Vaughan’s damaged silver Peugeot 306 was found on the A467 between Risca and Crosskeys and is thought to have been in a crash. Police believe Mr Vaughan was in the car and had managed to survive.

At the time, officers said they had received information that Mr Vaughan might have been hitching a lift on the A467 northbound between Risca and Crosskeys.

Known to friends as ‘Jabbers’, the former Cwmcarn High School pupil is suspected to have been murdered, and eight people were arrested and released without charge in relation to the case.

Mr Vaughan has since officially been presumed as dead by the High Court.

At the time of his disappearance, police believe Kyle was wearing a dark-coloured beanie hat, a dark coloured t-shirt, three-quarters length denim shorts, white trainers and a gold chain.

Anyone with information can call Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
