Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey made his first start after recovering from injury on Tuesday January 3 as Arsenal staged an unlikely comeback from three goals down to salvage a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth.
Caerphilly-born Ramsey, 26, sustained a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s opening Premier League match of the season against Liverpool on August 14 2016.
The injury has seen the midfielder miss 11 Premier League matches this season, but he recently returned from the bench in his side’s festive fixtures on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Against Bournemouth, Ramsey was restored to the starting lineup, but struggled with the pace of the home side as they raced into a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes.
The Welshman soon settled into the game, despite a heated discussion with teammate Alexis Sanchez, and ended the match with a 94% pass accuracy as the Gunners equalised in injury time.
Wales manager Chris Coleman will now be hoping that Ramsey can remain fit and firing ahead of the national side’s upcoming World Cup Qualifier with the Republic of Ireland on Friday March 24.
