A care home manager has won a prestigious award for her dedication to caring for older people.

Caroline Davies, the registered manager of council-owned T? Iscoed Residential Home in Newbridge, won the ‘National Care Manager’ category at the National Care Awards 2016.

Mrs Davies was presented with her award by singer Keith Duffy, from Boyzone, at a recent ceremony at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel, which was attended by more than 700 guests.

Mrs Davies, 48, of Oakdale, said: “I feel very humbled and honoured. When I was at the awards it reminded me that there are hundreds of people just as deserving of this award as myself. Often we in the public sector aren’t as good at putting ourselves forward as those in the private so I feel that I didn’t just collect for myself, but everyone that I work with as well.”

Cllr Robin Woodyatt, Cabinet Member for Social Services said: “Congratulations to Caroline on achieving this prestigious award. This is a tribute to you and recognition of your hard work and the empathy you bring to it. Well done.”

The National Care Awards are organised by Caring Times magazine.
