South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance at a mountain fire in New Tredegar, which was started at around 11am this morning, Thursday April 27.

The fire was put out at around 4pm.

Despite being highly visible, fire chiefs have refused to give out any further information as part of a new strategy to reduce grass fires and other arson incidents.

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service claimed the strategy was to “put residents’ safety first.”

A statement sent to Caerphilly Observer by SWFRS reads: “Currently we are unable to comment on any specifics regarding deliberately set ‘Grass Fires’ due to an all Wales Arson Reduction strategy outlined below.

“Through the Strategic Arson Reduction Board, the three Welsh Fire and Rescue Services, four Police Services, the Welsh NHS, Natural Resources Wales, Welsh Government and others have developed a new Wales Arson Reduction Strategy that will help to re-focus efforts in this area and to broaden the responsibility of communities for arson reduction activity in Wales.

“By working with our partner agencies and our communities, our aim is to encourage a cultural shift across Wales so that arson is seen as socially unacceptable by all.

“We will take action to support this positive and lasting cultural change to create a Wales that we all want to live in, work in and to visit now and in the future.”

The morons who deliberately start these fires do not have the intellectual capacity to change their ways !
