The Aber Valley Carnival triumphantly returned to Senghenydd after a ten-year absence with hundreds of residents showing their support.
Held on Saturday, July 22, the carnival kicked-off with a fancy dress parade down to Senghenydd Ruby Club for the main event.
Community groups such as Aber Valley Heritage, Aber Valley FC, the YMCA, and the Senghenydd Youth Drop-in Centre all had stalls to help raise funds for their causes.
Despite heavy rain in parts, people did not stay away and the event is again back on the annual calendar.
The event was mainly organised by Senghenydd RFC committee member Rhys Davies and his parents, club steward Gethin Davies, and Joanne Davies, who also works at the club.
Joanne explained: “It used to be such a big event in the village and everybody had such good memories of it. There are a number of local groups struggling because their funding is being cut from all angles.
“We’ve got to act up, as we are in a position to do so, and put something back into the community.”
Mrs Davies said she wanted to thank all of the volunteers, businesses and groups that contributed their help, including Aber Valley Community Council and the Together Fund.
