Blackwood’s popular music duo, Into The Ark, have confirmed an extra 80 tickets will go on sale after they were forced to bring a scheduled show in the town forward by a week.

The pair, who finished as runners-up in TV show The Voice earlier this year, were due to play at Blackwood Methodist Church on Friday September 8 as part of the town’s Velvet Coalmine festival.

However, the show will now go ahead on Friday September 1 due to a change in the band’s schedule.

By way of apology, a further 80 tickets will be made available.

Dane Lloyd, from the band, said: “We’re very sorry to have to reschedule our gig at Velvet Coalmine, however we are delighted that we can now expand the capacity at the venue and allow more of our amazing fans to come and see us in our hometown.

“Velvet Coalmine is a great initiative for Blackwood and we wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

Velvet Coalmine, the Blackwood festival of “writing, rock and roll and coal”, takes place from September 7 to 16 in multiple venues across the town.

Iain Richards, founder of the festival, said: “Velvet Coalmine is all about giving locals the opportunity to explore their talent potential. We hope seeing local lads Into The Ark achieving such great things is an inspiration for other young people in Blackwood.

“We understand the change of date might leave some people disappointed. For those who have a ticket but are unable to make the new date, we’d like to apologise and will look to refund tickets wherever we can.”

The extra tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday, August 18, and can be bought from www.velvetcoalmine.com.
