A man was rushed to Morriston Hospital in Swansea with 50% burns after a fire got out of control in Trecenydd.
At around 3pm on Tuesday, August 22, emergency services were called to a house on First Avenue, Trecenydd, near Caerphilly, to reports of a fire.
A crew from Caerphilly fire station attended along with an ambulance, rapid-response paramedics and a hazardous area response team from the Welsh Ambulance Service.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWRFS) said it believed a lit fire exploded after “too much accelerant” was added.
The man was flown to Morriston Hospital in Swansea with “serious injuries” after the Wales Air Ambulance landed in nearby Trecenydd Park.
A SWRFS spokeswoman confirmed the man suffered 50% superficial burns.
