Dragons hooker Elliot Dee was handed a 12 minute cameo on his debut appearance for Wales.

Newbridge-born Dee, who has also played for Bedwas, Cross Keys, Penallta and Newbridge, replaced Kristian Dacey in the 68th minute of Wales’ hard-fought 13-6 win over Georgia at the Principality Stadium on Saturday, November 18.

The 23-year-old has made seven appearances for his region this season, and was called into action almost immediately on his national bow.

A resilient Georgian side were camped close to the Welsh five-metre area for much of the final quarter, and it was thanks to a stellar defensive effort – and a controversial scrum law – that the home side were able to come away with the victory.

Prop Tomas Francis’ yellow card with the match in extra time meant Leon Brown – whom Francis replaced – was required to re-enter the fray.

However, he was deemed to be injured, leading to Dacey going back on and the scrum becoming uncontested.

Georgia had enjoyed dominance at the scrum, and that decision undoubtedly worked in Wales’ favour.

In scenes reminiscent of Wales’ Six Nations match with France earlier in the year, questions will be raised over whether the decision was tactical or genuine.
