A man dumped a cat on the side of the side of a busy dual carriageway near Caerphilly, the RSPCA has confirmed.

The animal charity is appealing for information after the tabby cat was taken to a nearby vets by an onlooker.

In the early after of Thursday, November 23, a driver witnessed a man wearing a blue coat and jeans get out of a white car and dump a cat in a pet carrier on the side of the A470 southbound carriageway, near the Caerphilly turn off.

RSPCA inspector Selina Griffiths said: “This poor tabby cat must have been so frightened being left on the side of the road, and it was very lucky that a passer-by picked her up and took her to safety.

“She was taken to RSPCA’s Merthyr Tydfil clinic for a veterinary check up and is now being taken to RSPCA Newport Animal Centre. She has been eating and drinking well and has a stiff back leg, but we think that it is age related.

“She is aged around eight and didn’t have a collar or microchip.

“If anyone has any information about this cat please could they call us on the RSPCA’s inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are in confidence.”
