Appeal after Newbridge war memorial damaged

Police are appealing for information after Newbridge’s war memorial was damaged.

According to Gwent Police, the memorial at Celynen Colliers Institute and Memorial Hall, High Street, Newbridge, was damaged between 10.15pm and 10.25pm on Friday December 1, last year.

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting log number 541 1/12/17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

    Yet another crime committed on one of our High Streets – and ironically right outside a police station that was closed !

    I look at the cenotaph in Caerphilly and feel proud of my community when I see that the poppies are still there and undamaged months later.
    Then my thoughts turn to the question of how long this will continue.
    As our communitiy demographics change I wonder if these symbols will last.
